Developing a context-appropriate framework for measuring quality in initial teacher education

Against a backdrop of increasing pressure globally to enhance the quality teacher preparation, and corresponding push ‘measure’ this performatively, we present context-specific framework for identifying initial education (ITE). The derives from project involving all Scottish ITE providers. It adopts vernacular globalisation perspective, drawing on international literature local knowledge create mutually agreeable framework. In sharing process, as well product, offer unique perspective how one jurisdiction has reconciled global neoliberal pressures with national educational ideology which values democratic approaches schooling.
